Plan this journey
Suggested itinerary
Day 1 · Doğubayazıt and Mount Ararat
Arrive via Iğdır or another agreed meeting point and travel toward Doğubayazıt. Visit İshak Paşa Palace with time for its courtyards, architectural details and position above the plain. Pause at a safe roadside viewpoint for Mount Ararat when visibility allows, then explore the town at an easy pace. Suggested overnight in Doğubayazıt.
Day 2 · Durupınar and the ark tradition
Travel to the protected boat-shaped Durupınar landform between the Telçeker and Üzengili villages. At the viewpoint, your guide explains how the site became associated with Noah’s Ark, what the geological setting shows and why the identity of a vessel has not been established. Weather and local access permitting, take time for short walks and photographs before returning to the agreed drop-off point.
What makes this route distinctive
Planning notes
The Ağrı Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism describes Durupınar as a protected natural monument with a ship-shaped outline. Whether it is related to Noah’s Ark remains disputed; ongoing research does not make the identification certain.
This is a suggested private route. Airport transfers, accommodation, guiding, access conditions, entrance fees and the final route are confirmed in a personal proposal. Mountain visibility and site access depend on weather and local conditions.
